Job Purpose

The Software Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining Boardable’s core products and supporting admin tools. The person in this role reports to the Chief Product Officer and serves to create and support a user-friendly SaaS platform for Boardable’s customers based on adherence to industry standards, knowledge of coding languages, and understanding of technical architecture requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop software products from concept to commercialization
    • Design, code, test, debug, and document software architecture and performance
  • Perform research and analyze data to deliver innovative product solutions to satisfy customer needs
  • Engage with engineering peers and provide code review/coaching as appropriate
  • Manage specific projects as assigned and ensure they are completed in a timely manner
  • Communicate process and products, including specifications, standards, and support
  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with teammates, internal stakeholders, and customers as needed

Experience/Education/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, software engineering, mathematics, related field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of experience in software development (direct coding experience required)
  • Ability to learn and have a little bit of autonomy
  • Demonstrated ability to build functional, user-friendly SaaS products
  • Understanding of the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model and cloud-based environments
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle and agile methodologies including Basecamp’s Shape Up.
  • Preferred experience using the Laravel & Vue frameworks hosted in Amazon Web Services
  • Experience integrating third-party technologies such as Stripe, PDF vendors and WebRTC vendors
  • Background in building mobile applications using React Native is a big plus
  • Ability to use version control systems such as Github or Bitbucket
  • Superior critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Nonprofit and/or board experience a plus
